SPEEDGLAS WELDING HELMETS

A well-designed welding helmet and reliable auto-darkening welding lens protect your face and eyes from heat, spatter and radiation. Welding processes typically generate hazardous ultraviolet and infrared radiation and intense visible light that has the potential to cause permanent eye damage. Physical eye hazards include welding spatter and grinding particles.
Auto-darkening welding lenses allow welders to keep their welding helmet in the safe down position at all times, unlike passive welding helmets. If you can always see clearly, the need to constantly lift your welding helmet is significantly reduced, meaning you reduce the likelihood of exposure to harmful UV/IR radiation by accidentally striking an arc or being exposed to the arcs of nearby welders. You also reduce the potential for foreign body eye injuries from grinding, sparks or weld spatter.
Welding helmets have come a long way since the humble “hiderok”. Welding helmet configurations are now available with integrated powered or supplied air respiratory protection options. These systems can give welders combined eye, face and respiratory protection compliant with Australian and New Zealand standards with the added benefit of keeping the welder cooler and more comfortable. Some options can even give welders five levels of protection with integrated hearing and safety helmet options.
